Welcome to Your New Computer - Finalizing your Setup

A Guide to Getting Started

Congratulations on receiving your new computer! We’ve already taken care of most of the setup so you can get up and running as quickly and securely as possible.
This guide will walk you through what’s already done, and what steps you’ll need to take to finish setting up your personal workspace.

What We’ve Done For You

Before you received your computer, our team completed the following:

1. Installed Updates

We made sure Windows (or macOS) and all essential drivers are up to date for security and stability.

2. Installed Management & Remote Support Tools

We set up management software and secure remote access tools.

Why? This allows our support team to assist you quickly if you ever need help—no more waiting for a technician to arrive!

3. Optimized Security

We applied security tweaks and best practices to protect your data and privacy.

4. Installed Common Software

To save you time, we pre-installed software most users need, including:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Google Chrome (or your preferred browser)

  • VLC Media Player (for videos)

  • 7-Zip (file compression/extraction)

  • Activity Watch (optional, for time tracking)

  • Any additional programs you requested that don’t require personal licensing or logins.

What You’ll Need To Do

There are a few things only you can complete, as they require your unique sign-ins and personal preferences:

1. Sign Into Your Browser

  • Open Chrome, Opera, or Firefox (whichever you use).

  • Sign in with your work or personal account to sync bookmarks, passwords, and settings from your old computer.

2. Sign Into OneDrive and Turn On Backups

  • Open OneDrive from the system tray or start menu.

  • Sign in with your account.

  • Follow prompts to enable backup for your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders.

This ensures all your files sync across devices and are backed up automatically.

3. Activate Microsoft Office

  • Open any Office app (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Sign in with your company or personal Microsoft account.

  • Complete activation if prompted.

4. Set Up Outlook (If Used)

  • Open Outlook.

  • Choose the “Classic” or “New” version based on your preference.

  • Sign in with your email account and let Outlook finish syncing your mail, contacts, and calendar.

5. Install or Log Into Any Additional Software

  • If you use specialized or proprietary programs (like QuickBooks, Quicken, etc.), you may need to:

    • Download the installer from the official website.

    • Sign in with your personal or company account.

    • If you need help, schedule a support call or request a step-by-step guide from our team.
