Technology is all around us. It's not going anywhere. Here are a couple points about technology and those who assist you with it. [su_list icon="icon: database"]
  • It doesn't always make sense
  • It's always changing
  • It takes effort to keep running efficiently
  • It can, at any moment, act different without any warning
    • It can even fail at any moment without warning
    • Always have up to date backups
    • Sometimes a fix isn't obvious
    • Sometimes an immediate fix isn't even possible
  • Keeping up with the times is a good idea
  • SysAdmins are people too, not wizards, we don't know everything about everything.
    • Therefore we may not have an answer as to why xyz happened, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  • There is more than one way to achieve your goal
    • Not all the ways are efficient.
    • Your comfort zone isn't always the best route to handle your day to day activities
  • It's a good idea to use certain programs over others. See this article.
  • Using email in this day and age is a must. It's also a must to use it efficiently.
    • By efficient I mean daily checks, keeping it spam free (contact me to get your inbox cleaned), and average response times of less than a few hours.
  • Don't be afraid of technology
    • It's frustrating for everyone at some point. You're not alone.
