Feeling Overwhelmed? Try these steps.

With so much going on, it's easy to feel overwhelmed when we're busy with life and so many things come at us. Stress can often be lessened by making a change in perception, which can change how we react and feel in our daily lives.

[su_icon_text icon="icon: check-square-o"]Priority one. Write down everything you feel you need to do. Trello is something I personally like to use to dig a bit deeper into each task.[/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon="icon: check-square-o"]Now that you have your initial list, identify which items are wants and which are needs. Eliminate items that are not critical, timely or are just wants. [/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon="icon: check-square-o"]Decide what tasks can be delegated from the list. By delegation, I mean something that someone else can help take off your plate, such as cleaning or yardwork. We shouldn't be trying to do everything ourselves and it's okay to ask for help. Schedule yourself to delegate the work out.[/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon="icon: check-square-o"]The remaining items on your list should be things you must handle personally. Identify a time when you can complete each item on your calendar, and then stick to it. Once complete, cross it off your list and know it's finished in your mind. [/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon="icon: calendar"]If anything on your list is recurring, schedule a recurring event on your calendar so it will become part of your routine. We don't view putting our underwear on or putting on our socks as a stressor because we do it every day. Other things can become routine as well. [/su_icon_text]

Since you likely removed some of the wants off that list, feel free to make another list for wants. You can fit them into your schedule as you like and have time. Personally, I have a backburner list that sits there until I feel like bothering with it, low priority items.

By doing this, you'll be able to visualize what you need to accomplish and will have a sense of accomplishment when you've finished each task. There are only so many hours in a day, and sometimes what seems like a lot can be accomplished with less stress than we think. Always keep in mind that you are in control of how you react to situations.
