A little balance with tech support?
There are a plethora of tech services out there. You've got the consumer services, such as Cox, Asurion, US Tech Support (not us!) and Geek Squad. Then you've got the Managed Service Providers, which are all over the board. Then you've got us. The big question is what's the difference? What do you get with each?
Let's start with the consumer services. These services are usually 10 to 20/month, sometimes even less. You'll commonly get access to a support line you can call or email when you have a problem and from there a technician either gets scheduled for a session (remote or in person) or you get someone on the phone or email who assists in troubleshooting your problem. You'll usually get different technicians each time and the processes can vary from company to company, but commonly you will have people checking knowledge articles and troubleshooting based off common fixes. Sometimes these services offer "cyber security" services in the way of basic antivirus that you typically don't need. These services also don't offer support to businesses and most plans at the lower end don't cover commercial use. Of course this will vary. But this is the general idea. Provide cheap support en masse for a profit. When something breaks, they try to fix it.
